2006 Dues Are Due!

Our president, Joe Smith presided over the meeting.

There were about 20 persons present. Ron Jones, Dan Cook, and Dave Kister were visiting. Ron must have liked what he saw since he joined the club.

Tom Schottle brought in two square plates inspired by Jamie Donaldson, who was the demonstrator at the November meeting. One was from Maple
and the other from Cherry.
Tom showed us a "long bowl" he had turned from Maple.
He also had a wonderful platter, which was constructed from four pieces of Maple separated by strips of Purple Heart.
To keep in line with the topic of the day, Tom showed us a couple of nice lidded boxes he had turned.
 One was footed.

John Crede brought an attractive square plate, which a friend had decorated with painted holly leaves.

Dennie Ashby brought in an attractive deep bowl turned from Cherry

and a nice covered dish from Butternut.

Dave Jones showed us a really nice square bowl from Walnut
and an interesting large platter from Cypress.
U.K. Dawson brought a nice lidded dish. The dish was colored blue and the lid was Locust. U.K. did not stay around to have his work photographed.
Gary Gibbs brought in a really nice Catalpa dish.
He had a couple of natural edge bowls from a large piece of Gum.
The larger of the two was turned rather thick because there were so many holes and voids Gary was cutting more air than wood. It was a really remarkable bowl.
Gary also brought in a wonderful large plate from spaulted Maple
and a fine smaller plate also from spaulted Maple.
Bill McKay showed us a really attractive vase turned from Sugar Maple.
Jerry Smith brought in a wonderful deep Cherry bowl,
a nice deep Walnut bowl,
and a nice little bowl from a Cherry burl.

Miscellaneous

The Newsletter will be sent by email to those members who have given me their email address. This medium will contain an HTML document in which I have included links to pictures of the "Show and Tell" items as well as a link to the website. Those who do not have email addresses listed with me will receive the usual hardcopy newsletter by US snailmail. Any others who wish a newsletter by mail should let me know.

Instead of trying to add photos of all the show and tell items to the members’ gallery, I will rely on photos sent in by the members. So please send me pictures of your work so that I can add it to the gallery.

The Newsletter with pictures is also available on the website.
