Show and Tell

Jim Morrison brought a really nice segmented bowl from Walnut
and two fabulous segmented plates from Walnut and Birch plywood.

Bill McKay showed us a beautiful dish from a Walnut burl,
an interesting "reversed rim" bowl from Walnut,
and a bowl from a Maple burl.
Dave Jones brought in a Walnut vase
and a $116 vase from Hackberry. I understand the $116 was mainly medical costs.
Tom Schottle brought in one of his wonderful platters with a surface augmented rim.
He also had a pear shaped "Genie Jar" from Mesquite.
Bill Morris showed us an attractive lidded dish from Sycamore and Walnut,
and a "Two piece" bowl crafted with a skew. I do not think this qualifies for the multi-piece vessel challenge. The item should not be held together with a rubber band.
Gary Gibbs had a really nice large platter from (I think) Poplar.
He also had a really nice platter from Gum,
and a Maple burl bowl.
Rick Northrop showed us a really attractive lamp he had turned from Yellow Locust.
Dennie Ashby brought in a nice bowl from Poplar and Walnut,
and a fine plate from (I think) Cherry.
Byron Young show a couple of very nice lidded dishes from Walnut,
one with a finial.
He also had a "mystery tool" (a deer drag) he had turned.
Joe Smith had an incredible Oak burl bowl which was about 1/16 inch thick.
Jerry Smith brought in a wonderful nested bowl set.

(Unnested)

Program

Joe and Jerry Smith demonstrated techniques of cutting two or more bowls from one blank, and producing nested bowl sets. The demonstration was very interesting and a lot of fun.
