Tom Schottle brought in a hollow football turned by Neil Gloudemans at the Cincinnati "Turning 2005". Tom bought this demonstration turning at the auction.
Tom showed us a lidded box, which he had turned using techniques demonstrated by Richard Raffan in Cincinnati.
He also had a really nice bowl he had turned from Ambrosia Maple.
John Crede brought a really attractive bowl turned from Paralam with a segmented rim.
Mike Wade brought the Christmas tree ornament he had made at last month’s demonstration. He had finished it and donated it to the club to be auctioned off.
Mike also showed us a bowl from Norway Maple,
a really attractive natural edged bowl from Silver Maple,
and a very nice shallow bowl turned from Coffee Tree.
Dave Jones showed us a couple of beautiful bowls turned from a piece of Norfolk Island Pine he has bought at the Turning 2005 auction. One of the bowls was "with limbs"
and the other without.
Dave also brought in a natural bowl from a beautiful piece of Cypress,
a nice Ambrosia Maple bowl,
and an attractive Curly Maple "hollow form".
Jim Morrison brought in a segmented platter that "didn’t make it." It is a good example of knowing when to quit. He had a "catch" as he was doing a final touch-up on the edge. It would have been a spectacular segmented plate.
U K Dawson brought in some items to show, but too late for Show & Tell. He had turned them from spaulted Beech and Cherry.

Program

Jamie Donaldson came from Lexington to show us how he makes
square bowls
of various shapes
 and designs.
He gave a very clear and well-prepared demonstration. Good job, Jamie!

Next Month’s Meeting

On December 10th Bob Fleming will be instructing us in the art of turning something lidded, or otherwise. Be sure and be there at 10:00am at Cedar Lakes. You don’t want to miss this.

Miscellaneous

Dave Jones has received another announcement of Craft Supplies specials (10% off on T-shirts and 15% off on some finishes). For information contact Dave.

Our parent organization, AAW, is offering a special membership promotion this year. They are offering a free wood turning DVD (a $24.99 value) with a year’s membership.

The Newsletter will be sent by email to those members who have given me their email address. This medium will contain an HTML document in which I have included links to pictures of the "Show and Tell" items as well as a link to the website. Those who do not have email addresses listed with me will receive the usual hardcopy newsletter by US snailmail. Any others who wish a newsletter by mail should let me know.

Instead of trying to add photos of all the show and tell items to the members’ gallery, I will rely on photos sent in by the members. So please send me pictures of your work so that I can add it to the gallery.

The Newsletter with pictures is also available on the website.
