Show and Tell
| Tom Schottle
showed us a very small top which he turned using a large "Alan
Lacer" skew. |
He also brought in a beautiful natural
bowl from an Australian burl. |
| As a warning, he showed us a bent parting
tool (with a broken handle) which endured a "catch". |
| Jerry Smith
brought in late (after Show and Tell) a nice deep
stemmed bowl. |
| Clarence Clarkson
brought in a multi-axis item he had turned which
he titled "ET". |
| John Crede
brought a very nice covered bowl from Poplar. |
| Dave Jones
showed us two nice Walnut bowls cut from one piece of wood using a
"bowl saver". He also had a nice Maple bowl (No Photo). |
| |
| Bill Morris
brought in very nice covered box from Walnut bowl (No Photo). He was
unhappy (to put it mildly) with the use of a skew! |
| Bill McKay
showed us a large bowl |
and a large vase, both from cherry
burls (Joe says the wood was probably Maple). |
| Gary Gibbs
showed us a photo of a large (about 30" diameter) Maple burl. He
brought a plate turned from the end of that burl. |
He also had a pretty piece of burl.
| He showed us a beautiful bowl,
a shallow bowl from a beautiful burl
| and a very nice bowl from Catawba. |
Demonstration
| Frank Penta demonstrated multi-axis
turning |
and how he turns his wonderful platters.
It was a really interesting and informative session.
Frank says one cannot get a catch with a skew
if you follow the rules.
