Show and Tell

Last month I (in my often confused state) mistakenly attributed an attractive segmented lidded vase to Jim Roberts. Actually, it was turned by Jim Meyers. Sorry about that , Jim.

Tom Schottle showed us three of his wonderful plates with textured rims.
Jerry Smith brought three nice spaulted Oak cups he had turned.
Clarence Clarkson brought in some of his bottle stoppers
Paul Weinberger brought one of his famous segmented vases.

Ervin Jones showed us a nice vase he had turned from spalted Maple.

Bill Morris brought in two really nice bud vases. One was from Cherry.
The other was square sided from Walnut.
Dave Shombert showed us a nice plate with an inlay rim,
and one of his wonderful segmented vases.

Demonstration

Linda Van Gehuchten demonstrated how she makes her lovely Angels and Nativity Scene characters. It was a fun and interesting presentation.

This is one she made during the demonstration

Special Presentation

On Monday evening, October 8th we were treated to a special demonstration by Alan Lacer.

Because of the late hour and lack of time, no business was transacted and there was no Show & Tell.

Alan began by giving a short course in the use of the skew.   He made a very small top using a quite large skew.

After supper he discussed end grain cutting. He showed how to make a special Hooked Cutter,

and then used the tool he had made to demonstrate end grain hollowing.

About 26 persons attended this truly fascinating presentation.
